Some Food for Thought

Fall Hunt - Lazy 7 Up Ranch, Circle, MT

Celebrating 20 years…

Moving from Sussex, WI in 1990 with three kids in tow, we couldn’t have dreamed our country lifestyle would turn into a family operation.

The Angus connection…

From the original 25 bred heifers the learning curve has been wide and strong. Our foundation cow families are now known throughout the United States. Rick’s selected the very best females, using phenotype, EPD’s, dam and sire production records, and pedigree as our guides. Matching them with sires that will produce sound, reproductive, easy fleshing bulls, and calving ease females that result in cattle to fulfill our customer needs.

Feeding the nation…

We do our part, putting food on the table of families. In addition to beef, we plant and harvest 1500 acres field corn, soybean, wheat, oats, and hay. Balancing mother nature and the whims of the commodity markets requires time tested skill that challenge the best of them; using modern technology and old fashioned know how.

It’s a Family Affair…

Andy works fulltime on the farm specializing in herd health and breeding & embryo transfer. He manages the day to day chores that 120 mother cows and calves require. Aric’s emphasis is on the show cattle and helping with the farming end of things, in addition to his full time job as the third generation truck owner/operator hauling out of Halquist Stone Co. Jason adds his talents through graphic design keeping us looking good. And of course that helping farm hand that is always needed.

Our “city” kids have turned into men with families of their own, all of whom love the agriculture life. The grandkids are loving Angus, moving into the show ring just like their parents…and the circle of life continues.

It’s a very interesting life…never a dull moment.
Stop by and see us…

We’re just a short jump from almost anywhere…let’s talk Angus.
